Dallas Cowboys Nation

You Are Now On Notice

Dear Marion Barber,
I am writing you to let you and your agent know that this football team will go on with or without you. You have made it well known that you want a long-term deal, and we are well prepared to give you just that. However if you continue to claim that you deserve a contract in the 60 million dollar range, we are well prepared to walk away. I want you to take care of you and keep you here, we think you are a fantastic running back, you are not however in the same league as Tomlinson, nor will we pay you that way.
I have come to the conclusion that you will stand firm to what you would like to be paid, therefore we have begun the process of finding your replacement if in fact this is the way you decide to go. I hope however that you read this and really think about your next move. You are a dynamic back when you are not asked to carry the load. When you can get no more than about 20 carries a game, you are very fierce, bone jarring, and strong. as we found out in the playoffs last year.Though when you are asked to carry the ball more than that you simply cannot maintain that pace, as shown here; 1st half in playoff game against Giants, 16 carries 101 yards, but in the second half you were worn out 11 carries 28 yards.
I understand that everyone wants to be the man, but we do not need you to be the man, just Marion Barber. You will however get some oppurtunities this year to prove you can carry the load

Are You Smoking Crack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does Marion Barber really believe he deserves L.T. money? Or is this just another slime ball sports agent’s ploy to get Marion the most he can? Well either way it’s absolutely ridiculous, and if I were the Cowboys I would call there bluff.
The Cowboys offered Barber a very solid contract the other day at 5 years 30 million. Apparently though Barber and his agent (Drew Rosenhaus) feel that this is not enough money for this type of back. The type of back they are referring to is Ladainian Tomlinson! What?? Are they smoking crack? Did Nate Newton start hanging out with Marion, to supply him with Mary Jane? Did Carson Palmer hit Drew in the head with a football? Or have they simply lost there f***ing mind!
At what point do you think the following conversation took place? “O.K. Marion here is what I feel you are worth, somewhere between L.T. and Clinton Portis!” I mean this conversation had to take place right? I will say this he very well may end up being worth that kind of money, but there is no way he is right now! Don’t get me wrong I really, really like “The Barbarian”, but I know I don’t like 50 million like him.
I tell you what I would do if I were Jerry Jones; I would simply tell Drew and Marion you have my offer! You can accept my 5 year 30 million offer and have yourself guarantees past this year, or you can play out this years deal and hope your as good as you say you are! There is just no way can I see giving up this much cash on a guy that has been a back up his whole career. The Cowboys were right in line when offering him Michael Turner money.
In the end all I can hope for is that Marion puts down the crack pipe and proves to be worth L.T. money, and not just the next Troy Hambrick!!!!

Food For Thought

I did some thinking this weekend after reading a post by the guys over at The Landry Hat talking about Roy Williams. Anyone who has read this blog can tell you that I do not care for the guy to put it mildly, but after reading there article I felt that I at least needed to do some research and find out if I have been too critical of him.
To start my research I felt I should take a look at Roy Willy’s career numbersRoy WillyAt first glance you think “hey he did not have as bad a year as I thought”, comparable year to his rookie year minus the forced fumbles. I do understand at his position the numbers do not exactly tell the story, it is the things that do not show up in the stats that matter, like missed tackles, and missed assignments.
So I looked around at other safeties across the league to see how he compared. I did this because there seems to be a fear among cowboys fans that if he was let go or traded away that we would get torched back there because we have no one to take his place. Well this is somewhat true, but I think I can show that it would not be as hard to find a replacement as we have been making it out to be. As I went team by team comparing Roy’s numbers with that teams safety numbers, I was shocked at the amount of players with the same numbers or greater. All of these players making significantly less money and by far less notoriety! Here are the numbers of a guy that has been in the league eleven years and makes 9 MILLION LESS!!Sammy Knight???????????

Just another Saturday

We are still a week away from draft day, and Pac man is still not a Cowboy and other than Chad Johnson going ballistic the football news has slowed somewhat. So as begin writing this article there are plenty of small items I could talk about, but I just cannot seem to get all my thoughts together this morning! So bare with me!
The big news of today is all about the NBA Playoffs! Undoubtedly the very best part of the NBA season. All year’s ups and downs, winning & losing streaks, accomplishments & mistakes. Well none of that matters anymore for sixteen teams, these teams all begin season two today! This should be some of the best playoff basketball seen in a very long time (in the west anyway). I am not even going to attempt to predict who will win it all, it is a complete toss up, everyone is so evenly matched any one of these teams could win! Everyone enjoy!

How Much is too much?

Well from all indications it sounds as though the deal for Adam “Pac-Man” Jones should be complete sometime this week. I know what you are thinking; this was supposed to have been a done deal several weeks ago! It appears both the Titans and the Cowboys are on the same page as far as compensation now. From what I have seen and heard the deal will consist of the Cowboys sending a third round pick with a conditional fifth round pick (that condition being the cowboys make the super bowl).
Which one will show up????????
I am asking this; is “Make it rain” going to bolster the secondary and return games worth a third round pick? Well it depends on which Pac-man shows up! I am hoping he understands that this is his last stop in the NFL, if he does realize that he is getting an opportunity to resurrect his career, then this could be a steal for the “BOYS” but if the same lunatic that was in Tennessee shows up, well then this may not have been so good!
This deal is not a make or break deal for the Cowboys. This trade has way more upside to it than downside. He is going to come in and probably get a league minimum contract with some sort of incentive package based on staying out of trouble. Essentially the cost for the team is possibly two mid round selections. I realize that those rounds are critical draft rounds, and teams can pick up very talented players in these rounds. I stand firmly saying though that this one player could change the whole dynamics of this average defense in a way that could propel them to one of the top defenses in the league.
Either way this turns out we here at A Cowboy Nation will not hold back our criticism or praise! It is all up to Pac-Man!

Ready for a big day

Well the closer we get to draft day the more anxious I get, everything looks as the stars may be aligning for what could be a huge day for the boys. There have been several thoughts in my mind since that dreadful loss to the G-Men. The first being can we please do something with Roy Williams, well the more time goes on the more I can see him having a much reduced role this year ( I was hoping for him to be gone ). Seems if the draft and possible trade scenarios go according to plan, its very possible we could see a familiar face at safety, and that may be one Anthony Henry! From what I am hearing if the boys get what they want in the draft ( a solid starting corner ) and Pac-Man ” I am gonna make it rain ” Jones via trade, this is a likely scenario at least in passing situations. Although Roy Willy continues to hang his hat on the fact that he is switching back to his college number, and that this is going to get him back to the good ole days! Highly unlikely! His coaching staff on the other hand is not quite so optimistic. I am going to step out on a limb here and say that I guarantee that he will still be the same ole shitty player he has been!
The second thought I had was that if there was only some way to get Roy Williams ( the real Roy Williams) in a Cowboy uniform. I know that there has been lots of rumors circulating about this very situation. I also know that Matt ” I am an idiot” Millen denies that Roy is on the block, but I believe that on draft day this will happen. This possibility gets me almost as excited as the nights my wife does not have a “headache”! I said ALMOST! The mere thought of T.O. on one side and Roy on the other with Patrick “I need to shut up” Crayton back in the slot where he belongs, and lets not forget about the best tight end in the league Jason Witten, this would assuredly be a defenses greatest nightmare!
There was one other thought, and this is strictly for Wade Phillips, can you please get the team to understand that games in December are much more important than games in September! The boys have gotten into a pattern of very lack luster play in the final month, and I for one would much rather see lack lack luster in the beginning of the year than in December.
We will find out what this years team is going to look like very soon! I hope this year turns out better than last!
P.S. Roy Willy Sucks no matter what number he wears!!!!!!!
