Talk is cheap these days in Cowboy land, but it sure is nice to hear things like this! It appears as though Romo is not only back practicing, but is also taking a more active role in demanding more from this team. We talked about the need for someone to step up and take control of this team here earlier in the week. Tony even says “We can talk about it until we’re blue in the face. It’s a show-me game and now it’s time for everyone to do that.” Well it’s about damn time! The only thing that drives me nuts is why these kinds of remarks are left to be said by our injured quarterback. Why was this not said 3 weeks ago by the marshmallow man? I have beat that dead horse long enough now, Wade Phillips will never be the leader he should be.
All our hopes and prayers now rest solely on the shoulders of the players of this team. I read an article today over at Blogging the Boys you can read it in its entirety here. The premise of this story is about the failure of the owner and the coaching staff not being better prepared if we lost Tony Romo for a few games. Although they are right on throughout most of this piece, however I strongly disagree with the final paragraph; “At the end of the season, if we have an 8-8 record and we’re left out of the playoffs, there will be plenty of blame to go around. Jerry for his bumbling response to the backup quarterback situation and Wade for not being assertive enough in evaluating this situation. But here’s the thing. The season’s not over yet. So if we go on a run and make some noise in the playoffs, then these two guys should get an awful lot of credit”. How in the world do you give credit to someone who failed miserably at doing their job! I mean if this team goes on a run it will be in spite of Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones’s Decision’s not because of! These guys should hold blame whether this team does not win another game or goes on to win the Super Bowl. Wade Phillips primarily! He is the coach right? He is the evaluator right? Are we to believe that they all saw something from Brad and Brooks that would suggest they could actually run this offense? This is just another time where Wade Phillips dropped the ball!
The outcome for this year is still yet to be determined. Hopefully though with our leader back he can turn this thing around in spite of the mumbling, bumbling marshmallow man!
