Along with being a avid follower of the Dallas Cowboys I also love me some Mavericks. So in the spirit of basketball season I see this as a perfect opportunity to write a piece on the mavs. Unfortunately for me living in Houston all I get to hear about is the Rockets though it could be worse and I could live in N.Y. and have to suffer through watching and hearing about the worst team ever assembled.
Our friends over at The Dreamshake have a wonderful site dedicated to the Rockets (a must read), but I being the smartass that I am try to seize any and all opportunities to talk a little shit when I can but only in good nature. Well here in Houston its all Yao all the time except in those rare occasions when T-Mac plays (which he has played in two in a row now).
The Mavs and Rockets are very similar in a couple of ways, each teams most notable player are from another country ( Yao Ming, Dirk Dirk) and they both have dominant centers. Yes thats right I said it Dominant centers! People can say what they want about who the leader of the Mavs is but I am here to tell you the undeniable Leader of this Mavs team is none other than Eric ” The best in the west” Dampier! I can here you now Lee & Dave (authors of The Dreamshake ) you think I am crazy right!! Well it just so happens I have Video proof of how much greater a player Damp is compared to Yao!
Yao does not have nothing on that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So long Mr. Jones
Well it seems the end of Julius Jone’s term with the Cowboys is upon us. I for one would like to take this time and in wishing him good riddance. Mr. Jone’s time here was pretty much a waste of time, his mere 588 yards this year is a perfect example of this. With “The Barbarian” playing the way he has played there is simply not any need for Jones.
The cowboys need a change of pace back to compliment Barber, but they need one that can continue to move the chains. Julius running style was just not compatible with this team. He spent to much time in the backfield dancing around looking for the perfect hole, when in reality the holes are there but by the time he gets to them they are closing up. Dallas needs a between the tackles back with break away speed ( for all of you that think this is Tyson Thompson you are so wrong). The Cowboys more than likely will address this problem in the draft as it is loaded with quality running backs.
I read in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram this morning that Julius’s agent was very excited about their prospects! he went on to say that his client “will field some very strong offers” well I suppose someone will offer him a good chunk of change. The problem I had and have with Julius is somewhat similar with my issues with Roy Willy as I believe he is an excuse maker instead of working on his inadequacies he makes excuses such ” Coach Parcells had me running like a robot” granted Parcells is a jerk of the highest proportions but come on! he had to tell you how to run because you stayed in the backfield doing the mach arena instead of hitting the hole!
Well Julius now you can go off to some other team and make excuses and collect on those “very strong offers”. Thanks for the memories!
Roy Willy
The great and wonderful Roy Willy I am writing this post to you in great hopes that you may stumble across it and feel the desire to read this so you will fully understand how we feel about you! First of all since you came into the league all you have ever been known for was your ability to lay the big hit, the hit that makes receivers scared to come across the middle, the hit that knocks people out, the hit that makes people jump out of there seat and wonder how the person you hit could actually still be alive! Your first few years I personally thought you were going to be great and only get better, and up until the last three years I believed that. Unfortunately the longer you play the more you prove to this blog that you are nothing more than a liability!
I have tried like many to cut you some slack. The time for slack cutting has come and gone as far as I am concerned! What was once an enjoyable experience for me, Watching the Dallas Cowboys play football has now become an experience of shear displeasure. It is so bad that every time I see you on the field I come dangerously close to uncontrollable vomiting! Words just cannot express how disgusting you are to watch. Do you watch film of yourself attempting to tackle someone? Do you watch film of yourself in pass coverage? Either you have never done either of these or you are the definition of insanity! How in the hell can you continue to do things so improperly and not believe like the rest of us that you should not be playing? I have heard nothing but excuses from you for the past three years on why the job is not getting done. Be a man for once and just say ” I suck ” or ” I don’t give a shit “, this would get you much further in the eyes of Cowboy faithful ! but stop freaking blaming everything and everyone but yourself.
This was supposed to be your year! A new defense where you would be playing closer to the line stuffing the run, blitzing getting you more involved in each play and using your strengths. The only problem is you have forgotten the first thing we all learned at the age of about 5 and that is how to properly tackle someone! When you give your mama a hug do you wrap your arms around her or do you just lean in with a shoulder? Odds are good you just lean in with a shoulder. Well this tactic does not work on mamas or tackling dummies!
Please do us all a favor Willy and request a trade to a team that thinks you can still play! wait a minute check that, request a trade to anyone that will take you. I can promise you this much as long as you remain on this team I will be blasting you in this blog ( oh by the way you changing your number is not going to make it so I cant see you ! )
Things to forget, Things to fix
Well it has been nine days since the ultimate choke job occured,and I still have not gotten over the fact that the cowboys will not be playing in the super bowl. Then again none of us should be suprised! Dallas has not won a playoff game or finished a season with consecutive wins in so long that to talk about it makes me sick! This year was especially difficult with the way the Boys played all year and Then to have Elisha and the Giants ( a team we should have destroyed and did twice already) come in to Dallas not play well and still win! Well all they can do now is start addressing several key issues. First things First Mr. Jones it does not matter what you get but can you please send Roy ” I can no longer tackle ” Williams to anyone who will take him! This guy is the worst football player I have seen in a very long time, and how he continues to make pro bowls just blows my fuckin mind. If I have to suffer through another season of continuosly watching him slap his hands together and give that (what just happened!) look on his face after a third string tight end runs past him I am going to shoot myself. Secondly I love Patrick Crayton I think he is a very good reciever and he compliments T.O. and Witten very nicely but can you please tell him to shut the fuck up. I mean here is a guy who if you listen to him you would think he is the second coming of Ocho Cinco! problem is he has yet to make the big catch in a big game and its not because he has not gotten the opportunity he has gotten them and either just dropped the ball or gave up on the route! Crayton please shut your trap and catch the fuckin ball leave the shit talkin to someone with a little more expierence (i.e. “getcha popcorn ready” ). Thirdly find someone , anyone to replace Reeves in the nickel! This guy is awful I mean absolutely awful! between him and Roy Willy your killin me! I can only hope that come training camp we are having conversations about a revamped secondary in Dallas as this was really our only weakness this year, dont get me wrong our special teams units were not very good either but if I had a choice to fix one or the other I would most definetly start with the secondary.
